258 AnonymousOntarioI wholeheartedly support this initiative. The Internet has been a great tool for business, education and more. However, the Internet is also providing opportunities for international criminals, especially those who prey on the children of the world by producing, distributing and possessing child pornography as well as facilitating the luring of unsuspecting children into sexual encounters. One of the solutions towards prevention is education, awareness and supervision of children using the Internet. Declaring and endorsing an international "Safer Internet Day" is a helpful initiative in this regard.

267 Jennifer StrachanQuebecThe Internet is facilitating child sex tourism, commercial trade of sexually exploitive images and a public place in which children are lured into dangerous situations. Safer Internet Day would be just one way the Government of Canada could acknowledge this epidemic.
