Terwillegar Towne is a well designed, maturing community with narrow, clean treelined streets, multiple schools and parks, a major recreation centre, churches, outdoor activities, and a young, family-oriented demographic. Its street layouts and home designs encourage community, getting outdoors, walking in the evening, children playing, and general connection and pride in the neighbourhood.

However, with buses, traffic, parking on both sides of most streets, many people outdoors, and a general sense of outdoor involvement, 50 km/hr is too fast a speed within the community. The peace, quietness and safety of the community is threatened by this speed limit.

Reducing the speed limit to 40 km/hr makes good sense. The community is not that large that people need to be in a hurry to get somewhere within the community. Slowing it to 40 will also further develop the community's sense of peacefulness, maturity, family orientation, quiet streets, and will raise property values and the desirability of owning a home in the community.

I therefore hereby ask the City of Edmonton to implement a speed limit of 40 km/hr on all streets within Terwillegar Towne, with the exception of Rabbit Hill Road.
