S. 76, the Paycheck Fairness Act is designed to better remedy sex-based wage discrimination. Remedies include amending the Fair Labor Standards Act to require employers to demonstrate a compelling reason for pay differences. Further protections are also proposed to protect \"whistleblowers\" from employer retaliation. Enhanced penalties for violations of the Act would include suits for punitive damages and class action suits. Remedial actions and acknowledgement for compliance are also included in the bill. The Paycheck Fairness Act exemplifies something that Government is meant to do: protect individual rights. It\'s refreshing to see a proposed addition of teeth to the FLSA against scofflaws, while recognizing the accomplishments of those employers sincere about doing the right thing.
