Comments: This site is extremely informative. Although I support abortion, I had no idea about Parental Consent Laws. The fact is that these are our bodies, and as such, we should have control over them. No other people, especially men who could not possibly understand what being pregnant is like, should deem what is lawful to do with your own body. It is good that the youth of America has a chance to see how absurd these laws are.

Comments: The right to medical privacy should not apply to adults only. Many teens would be punished by their parents given this current law.

Comments: Being 15, I've heard plenty about teenage pregnancies and abortions. A friend of mine once told me she was pregnant. She was 13. Life can be turbulent, or even dangerous, for teenagers today. Violent, abusive, and drunk and/or druggie parents can make life very difficult. Like the petition states, if a young girl does get pregnant, what if her parents beat her for it Throw her out If she gets beaten, what if a particularly violent parent kills the unborn child (Say the parent hits the girl with a baseball bat in the stomach.) The girl can't say anything. The rights of the fetus change from state to state, so it may or may not qualify as murder, and going to authorities might endanger the girl more. So now, adding parental consent laws can actually put many lives in danger, the lives of the teenage girls, and the lives of their unborn children.

Comments: i think that you shouldnt have to get parental consent if you want an abortion whatever age you are it shouldnt matter. Alot of girls are to scared to tell their parents so they will have the baby or try and harm themselves please make it legal that you dont need parental consent if you want an abortion

Comments: By restricting women to seek parental consent before under going an abortion, your are driving many of them to backstreet "surgens" witch will defenitly restrict chances of a safe recovery, chances of successful and normal pregnencie in the futor and chances of a complete and successful abortion.Futher by have these parental consent laws and having pregnant teenagers going to backstreet "surgens" you are boosting the number of deaths related to teenage pregnancies.

Comments: I feel that the parnets should be told before an abortion is allowed to follow through. Parnets are to be notified on any other medical issue. Why is this any different This is concered a medical prodcedure.
