The image of a sedated three-year-old girl convulsing, perhaps in seizure, perhaps choking on her own vomit while her parents, both doctors, are in a bar up the road, quite frankly getting drunk, is almost too horrific to contemplate. Kate, I address you directly when I say the time has come to tell the truth. Not only for you, though clearly that would be wise, but for all the good people of this country who are being indirectly tarnished by your actions, for your parents, who seem thoroughly decent, for your other children, who will need you in the future and for Madeleine, whose memory deserves more than this undignified spin of deceit. |
