Buses to rural areas have been made an absolute minimum.. why is it fair that buses are run every 10 minutes to places like Lochside which is within walking distance or very cheap for a taxi to/from Dumfries town centre , where as places like Moniaive are expected to manage with 4 buses a day, at completely unsuitable times for working people. For example a lot of offices ( including Dumfries and Galloway council) work 8am- 6 pm how would someone from Moniaive/Dunscore area be able to work these hours when the first bus leaves Moniaive at 07:35am arriving in Dumfries at 08:35am. The last bus leaves Dumfries at 17:29pm and it would cost at least twenty five pounds to get a taxi back to Moniaive if you missed it. Unemployment is at its highest and it’s little wonder when people are only able to travel by bus within the hours above. Why do the government claim to care about carbon foot prints etc. and encourage people to use public transport, when in reality they are cutting the services to rural areas?
