WHAT IS BIBSWITCH?
BIBSWITCH makes transferring a bibnumber easy. We created a transparent online platform to facilitate transfers, donations and partial refunds on unused race numbers between athletes, runners and race organizers.
WHY WAS BIBSWITCH CREATED?
At BIBSWITCH, we believe in the power of today's Digital Age!
If you are a runner and you participate in road running events, then you have probably had first-hand experience with the "NO TRANSFER" & "NO REFUND" entry fee policies.This is where despite extenuating circumstances and the honest need to cancel registration in an race you signed up for in advance, you are DENIED a fair outcome or solution.
And this is a huge problem, because when we runners register for races: we really mean it! We are committed to our training, and we invest our time and money in order to cross the finish line on race day.
Unfortunately, sometimes there are circumstances that arise which basically give us runners NO CHOICE but to have to cancel: getting injured, a pregnancy, being called away for military service, death in the family, work emergencies and more. And we all know that after all the training and anticipation; it is really disappointing to have to cancel and not be able to run.
At BIBSWITCH, we also believe that transferring a bib SHOULD BE as easy as asking the race director in advance, to pass that number along to someone that can use it. We understand that illegal bibswapping is WRONG, creates skewed race results and unwanted liabilities for the organizers on the race day. Race organizers can eliminate this problem by working together with the running community and offering runners an option and an easy way to transfer their number when they get injured and/or can no longer show up on race day.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We want to let industry leaders and race organizers know that it is time to change the outdated race number transfer policies. We want them to start listening to what we the runners want. Together as a Team, we can have a stronger voice, and can better deliver this message.

Good idea. In addition to benefits to runners, race directors will see more advanced registrations that will help them to plan and increase numbers at races. I typically wait until 2 weeks before a race to register because of injury risk and loss of registration fee.
I am struggling with a plantar faciitis, that kept apart of the last Disney marathon. It is no fair that a runner under this cirscumstances, does not receive a refund or a defer option. The organization did nothing to attend my request. Manuel from Ecuador
I lost money on races after the death of my father, a cancer diagnosis and an injury at various times in my running career. I would love to have allowed someone else to run in my place in sold out races. Please change the rules so it can be so when misfortune strikes dedicated runners!
Having been injured 2 weeks before what would have been my first marathon, this issue is near and dear to my heart. Further, as a former event planner, while I understand race directors' hesitance, taking steps to facilitate transfers will help to grow the sport we love.
People are going to sell and transfer their bibs regardless of whether or not it is against the rules, this would create a safer race for everyone - people wouldn't be motivated to run races while injured and RDs would have the correct medical information for all runners
I think this should be an obvious option for all who find themselves disappointed with not being able to compete in a race they signed up for. It allows in some cases for someone else to compete in an event on behalf of the injured party.

I don't care that I can't get a refund. Event planners have already spent the money I've paid to register, and a wave of cancellations could destroy a race. Instead, I'd just like to send someone else to run in my place.
