Being a resident of Maricopa, AZ since 2004 one thing that i have notice over the years, there are not many places for kids to hang out, with out getting harassed for skateboarding, ridding there bikes or just having fun conversing with friends. It is a matter of time before a kid to get hit by a motorist in a few bad areas were they ride at. Since skateboarding, BMX and roller blading is gaining more momentum, we need more safe areas for family's to ride and feel comfortable, and not have to worry about there children getting hit by a car by trying to cross busy streets to hang out in a shopping center where there not wanted. Skate parks have been proven to be an important asset to the community, by giving the youth a safe environment to ride there bikes, skateboards and Rollerblades. It also makes the youth to want to ride more, and that equals more exercise, and with the nation of youth that are overweight, this will be an easy way to promote fun healthy exercise.
