Improve Pedestrian Safety by Implementing RRFB
With statistics proving that nearly 6,000 pedestrians are killed each year in the United States, why aren’t there more actions being taken to improve and ensure the safety of pedestrians in crosswalks? At college campuses, there are pedestrians crossing the roads all day rushing to get to classes, and there are drivers rushing through the campus to win in the race to find a parking spot. At colleges and universities around the country, there are pedestrians getting hit or coming in close contact with cars every day and night. With many options ranging from crossing guards to crosswalk signals, there is a fairly new invention that can help: in-roadway warning lights called Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon. These flashing LED lights that also serve as school speed limit warnings will help in crosswalks to improve the safety of pedestrians by capturing the attention of the driver, during the day or night.
