Comments: A community centre in the hub of LS6 is just what a diverse community needs to promote common understanding & to encourage people of different age groups to get along. I also question the ethics of putting 80 elderly flats near one of the largest & noisest student pubs in the area & do not see the value of adding retail units to an area which already has adequate nearby shops. When these properties for elderly people inevitably do not let,. there is a good chance this will become student accomodation & there will be more people in a smaller space with fewer community facilities than ever before. This decision makes no sense whatsoever, aside from whoever is taking payment of the undisclosed fee LCC received from Rushbond for the sale of this building, & I feel the matter has been deliberatly concluded with minimum public contact or support so the powers that be can do exactly what they want without receiving any negative press or attention. KEEP THIS SPACE AS IT WAS PROMISED WHEN THE BUILDING WAS CLOSED - KEEP IT FOR THE COMMUNITY!

Comments: This amazing building has previously been used to help the community and give knowledge to the youth of Leeds, why should that change I think the Royal Park School building should be used as a community centre because lets face it, todays youth are the future of Leeds, if young people do not get the help and support they deserve can you imagen what Leeds will become

Comments: This is an appalling use of the building. This is not an area suitable for lots of elderly people. When you are old would you like to be put opposite such a busy and noisy pub

Comments: Royal Park School is a valuable asset in a rapidly diminishing community. Surely it is plain for anyone conducting proper research into the interests of the local residents here that we can not continue to have our community spaces converted into housing - the area needs cohesion; not more 'development'. I hasten to add that Hyde Park is not now nor will it be in the forseeable future a suitable or attractive place to build accommodation for the elderly - demographically it is all wrong. I would also like to ask the coucil where these elderly people are coming from as they are not a common sight in this area. It is the responsibility and duty of the council to take care of the interests of its people, and crucially to keep to promises already made. Going back on your word will only serve to lessen your popularity and weaken your influence, and will contribute to the downfall as opposed to the progress of this community. Please stop thinking solely about money and open your eyes to what is really important to Hyde Park.

Comments: I strongly object to the sale of Royal Park School, especially since alternatives to keep the building in community use are available - including the use of asset transfer funds, as promoted by central government. It is also appalling that promises made 3 years ago are not being kept. Local democracy in action, obviously. It is also appalling that local action groups are not kept informed - partnership working in action, obviously. Please reconsider your decision and retain the building for community use. And in the process, you may regain some public confidence and respect.
