Name: Tammy Soelaeman on Jul 18, 2003State: CACountry: USComments: I've just received notice from the Irvine Apartment Management Company (IAMC) stated that "Residents who currently own Pit Bulls or Rottweilers will have until the expiration date of their current lease to find a new home for their dog". I'm forced to leave my town home which I've lived for more than 2 years. I or my dog never cause any trouble. I've paid top dollar to live in a nice neighboorhood and a nice home. The dog has been with me for 11 years and he's old now. This is the same dog that I've spent thousand of dollars to care for him, fixing his knees, teeth or any discomforts. This is the same dog that comes to me when I cry; the same creature that lays down, sit and sleep by my bed; the same one that goes up to people and beg to be petted; the same gentle heart that I flew through VIP Northwest program across states when I moved. And now... I have to throw him so anyone hopefully can find a good home What happened to the campaign of animal cruelty prevention What happens to "caring" about the members of a communityFlag

I urge anyone who has had their pets discriminated against to write their local lawmakers and urge them to enact legislation to end breed discrimination and force insurance companies to review this on a case by case basis.Flag

Name: Joya Clark on Aug 27, 2003State: IACountry: USComments: i have to show proof of insurance on my Rottweiler to have her in the town that I live in and nobody will cover me. It breaks my heart that I may possibly have to give up my dogter (daughter)or possibly have to move from the home of my dreams because insurance co's are discriminating & regulating what i may & may not have in my home. What's next Are we going to be cancelled if our household items aren't worth insuring also I want a stop to this!! My 'dogter' is just as much a part of my family as my husband, my son, or my cat and she is a complete house dog, so she would never harm anyone because she never has the opportunity to be around anyone. PLEASE STOP INSURANCE AGENCIES FROM MAKING THEIR HOMEOWNER MISERABLE!!!Flag

I just don't see how insurance companies feel what they are right...or even fair ...what's next parrot's i know a guy who lost a finger to a parrot....Flag

Name: Amy Herzog on Sep 6, 2003State: FLCountry: USComments: I have personally had lots of contact with breeds specified as Rottweiler and pitbull. I have never met one who was mean by nature. The only agressive dogs of these breeds I have met were that way because they were mistreated, abused or neglected. Any dog treated in this fashion from chihuahua to Great Daneis very likely to bite.Flag

We have never had a claim with either company for any reason, including our dog. Our pit bull, Petey, is the sweetest dog. He used to share cookies with our baby. My grandparents had an awful little tiny dog who would try to bite the kids just for coming inside.Flag

Name: Rhiannon Tunnell on Sep 23, 2003State: FLCountry: USComments: I own an American Pit Bull Terrior and he is the sweetest most loving dog n the world. He is like my only child. I was recently forced to move from Miami to Hollywood, FL within 48 hours or my dog would have been put to sleep based solely on his appearance as a "pit bull type dog" these laws are disgusting. I saw this line written on another petition that I signed on the subject of Pit Bulls and I thought it was great so I will write it on this one. "A Pit Bull did not kill hundreds of thousands of Jews just because they were Jews, Hitler did, but it is OK for us to kill hundreds of thousands of Pit Bulls just because they are Pit Bulls."Flag

My friend and I were just talking and dogs ar so much like humans. If I was tormented , that would build up my ambition to attack. Animals were once wild, but we have tamed them. Now after years mexicans are training the dogs to fight each other and this is giving them a bad reputation. Give them a chance!Flag

Name: Claudine Persing on Oct 21, 2003State: COCountry: USComments: I am the proud owner of a 7 yr old Rottie and a 2 yr old Doberman. I think it is wrong to single out certain breeds of dogs. Every dog has the ability to bite, no matter how big or small. I know it's been said before but it's true "there are no bad dogs only bad owners". We are being penalized because of a few irresponsible dog owners. I have owned both Rottweilers and Dobermans for 15 yrs and never once have my dogs been even remotely aggressive to people. They have been properly socialized and trained since they were puppies.Flag
