Comments: Lets grow a brain people, if ANY dog is mistreated it will become a vicious dog. I've been witness to poodles that attacked on site. And also many breeds of Terrior's. How about we make it manditory for Dog owners, exspecially owners of the Doberman, Rotty's, & Pitbulls, to attend a certain length of Dog training school . And with completion of the classes, the certificate is given to insurance companies/ect., and thus allowing families to keep there "children"/pets.

Comments: I own a PitBull and love to take her on walks and to the park. It's sad that people are so ignorant to think that one or two bad stories makes a whole breed bad. I've met Chihuahas that are meaner than my PitBull.

Comments: As of July 15, 2003, My Insurance Company, American Family will be cancelling my homeowner's insurance due to my owning a pit bull mix which I had rescued from the Humane Society. Apparently someone reported to my Insurance Company my owning this "child" of mine. My Insurance Company, American Family's comment was, "How attached are you to the dog, could you get rid of it" (To keep the money rolling into their company....I should give my pet away or have her put to sleep! If she were to go to another home, they would (new owner) find themselves in the same "Cancellation" or non-coverage situation. My pit mix is well trained, has almost an acre fenced in (6') when she is outside, and has never been a problem to anyone. There are only bad Insurance Companys and bad dog owners, not bad dogs!

Comments: It's about time we did something. This is mass hysteria at its finest. Let me know what I can do. Im told certain areas, communities and towns/cities have actually "outlawed Pitt Bulls". I refuse to be policed unfairly due to modern day ignorance from retro-witch hunters.

Comments: We are on our second Doberman and have never had any trouble with them. They are our babies. We are responsible- they are never loose in the yard. When ever we've had to change insurance companies there's always the third degree of questions about our dog. And we are forced to think about getting another breed when this one passes on. We really don't want to because Doberman's are our lives.

Comments: My dobie is so tame! All he does is lick. He LOVES all people but especially kids and toddlers. And they love him. He licks kids' faces and they just think its the cutest thing. The only thing is, My fiancee' and I got him to protect me at home when my fiancee' is not with me, I don't think he would. I think he would probably just try to play tug-of-war with an intruder!!!

Comments: I feel it is wrong to treat these three breeds of dogs like this and i am very upset at the way insurance companies are acting. I have a wonderful and loving female pitbull and she would never try and attack anyone unless provoked. I hope one day people can see that these dogs are loyal and loving and not a malicious dog.

Comments: I was told by Geico that they would not be able to insure me because I have rat terriers & miniature pinschers! I don't understand what is so deadly about either of these two breeds! None of my dogs have ever bitten anyone & they are not allowed to roam. We have a fenced yard & live on a busy street so my babies are kept under close watch. My daughter & I also recently found a pit bull puppy & even though they're against the law where we live, I'm keeping the puppy. She's super sweet & I won't allow her to be put to sleep like all the other pit bulls in Des Moines are, simply because this little sweetie had the misfortune to be born a "pit bull" or Amstaff, we're not really sure exactly which she is...

Comments: It is absurd to discriminate against a dog protective of their owners. I have never had a problem with theft with my Rotte in our apt. Everyone else around us has - hmmm! This must say something. If I had a chihuaha, I think circumstances would be different. This has got to stop!!

Comments: Although it is true that some dog owner's are careless and irresponsible in letting their pets run loose, presenting a danger for people and for the pet as well, but I think that the majority of us are very responsible with our dogs and see to it that they cannot harm anyone or be harmed. People, in New York State at least, are mandated to carry automobile and homeowner's insurance, yet they are being denied insurance because of their credit history and now, because the type of dog that they own. This is discrimination.

Comments: we have a shepard/husky mix...so you want to take our homeowners awayhe is our pet and part of our family and the only danger to others is he'll get you wet licking you...perhaps you should focus on the question "do you own a TRAINED ATTACK/GUARD dog" then you might have a legitmate concern...perhaps you'd like to cancel my insurance because I have a male child and he's more likely to get hurt, break something, etc,(fill in blank - fabricate something) Since when do insurance companies have the authority to play BIG BROTHER
