Name: Renee Cullmann on Nov 2, 2002State: NJCountry: USComments: A dog's breed does not offer an accurate prediction of whether it will bite or not. Insurance companies should pay more attention to factors such as whether the dog has received obedience training or if it is neutered. I have volunteered in an animal shelter for over a year and have known many Chows Chows, Rottweilers and pit bulls that are even tempered and friendly dogs. Insurance companies should look past the breed of a dog and instead give homeowners the opportunity to have their dog evaluated on a case by case basis.Flag

Name: Ginger Cameron on Nov 15, 2002State: TXCountry: USComments: I feel like you are just being discriminotory against certain breeds of dogs because of the reputation they have and only because these dogs have been abused, provoked and tormented to the point of being malicious. It is not just certain breeds of dogs that this happens to any breed of dog can be malicious if provoked and tormented enough. If that is the case than all dogs should not be allowed in any home at all and In my opioion that is very discriminatory and prejududice IT IS NOT FAIR to put these certain breeds in rescue facilities because the insurance companies have a problem with these dogs it is not the dogs fault it is the humans that handle these dogs and the humans that abuse these dogs in a way that is inappropriate. Thank you for letting me state my opioionFlag

Name: Benjamin Corbin on Dec 28, 2002State: NJCountry: USComments: Animals such as these need a responsible owner and love, and they will be the most loyal companion you can have. The down side is that owners with alterior motives use the strength of these dogs to do harm. We as controllers of another lifes destiny must be held accountable for being negligent and creating an aggresive animal. For this, the owner and the owner alone is responsible!Flag

Name: Laurie Phillips on Jan 10, 2003State: PACountry: USComments: I totally agree with you on that subject. I have a rottweiler myself and I see the mentality these people have. Any dog can be provoked regardless of what bred they are. All dogs are family. It's all in how they are raised. Im glad you have this page up, maybe it will wake people up and make them realize they are totally wrong. Thank you for your time. Peace and love.Flag

Name: Lori Simmons on Feb 4, 2003State: TXCountry: USComments: I am fostering a 6 month-old Rottweiler/Doberman female. She had lived in the shelter since she was 6 weeks old, placed there by a woman who bought her from a man who was breeding these animals as fighting dogs. Trixie is a sweet and loving dog. She is gentle with my two children, and we are determined to train her and raise her in a positive, loving environment so that potential families might realize that she is not a threatening animal. I will admit that I was intimidated with her breed mix, but when I met her it was clear that she is simply a wonderful dog in need of a good home.Flag

To think your insurance could be cancelled for owning one is just ridiculous. Statistics show that the biggest majority of dog bites come from poodles and chow chow, but nobody is labeling these dogs as vicious.Flag
