If you pay your HOA dues to Del Mar Highlands #2 you need to be aware that the Management Company (NN Jaeschke - Associa) has refused to pay for rodent control for the past 2 years. As a result, people have found rats in their gardens, garages, and seen them running across the street, or lying dead and rotting in on the walk pathway. After researching the issue and speaking to the Board of Directors Chairman, the Director of the Management Company (Christina Jaeschke), and the Dept of Environmental Health, I have found out the following: The HOA has not paid for pest control for the common areas for the last 2 years (despite collecting dues) because they believe that all is well as long as the areas look nice. The HOA and Board of Directors of the HOA is supposed to pay for services for the common areas, including pest control. The SD Department of Environmental Health are not apparently in a position to force them to reinstitute the pest control policy. The rodent population will multiply out of control if there is no pest control, and they can burrow into properties and cause a tremendous amount of damage, reducing your property value. If they are allowed to multiply without check, rats and mice will become resistant to the chemicals that are currently used to kill them. This has already happened in the United Kingdom. Pest control is a professional service and should be undertaken by professionals. Someone sitting in an office at Associa and the Board of Directors should not be able to unilaterally decide, on behalf of thousands of people, that pest control services should be discontinued. Rodents spread disease Knowing the above, do you want to see rodent control reinstated as soon as possible Going a step further, do you care what is done with your money Shouldn't you have a say on how your money is spent when it is collected What can we do about it: I need to hear from anyone who has noticed rodents -- mice or rats (alive or dead), droppings, in the common areas, around their property, to contact me via email rodentcontrol1@gmail.com [RODENTCONTROLONE@GMAIL.COM). Why do I need your help If we join together, the Board and Management Company will have to take notice. We also need you to sign this petition and pass it onto neighbors to sign. We need all homeowners in the Del Mar Highlands #2 catchment area to sign this petition. The Environmental Health Department in San Diego apparently has no authority to make the Management Company reinstitute rodent control, but we do have that power. The Board of Directors gives direction to the management company, and approves how the money is spent. The Board is there to serve us, the residents. If they refuse to take notice of this petition, they will be replaced with a Board that will listen. Please forward this petition to all neighbors in the Del Mar Highlands area. If other neighbors are outside of the area, but concerned about rats multiplying because of the negligence of the Board and Management company of DMH #2, let them sign it too. This first petition is to inform the Board of Directors that they must reinstate the rodent control policy and keep it in effect. If they refuse to do this, we will recall the Board of Directors, set up a new board, and terminate the management company. I have already heard from several management companies interested in taking over the area. If anyone is interested in serving on the Board that cares about these and other issues, or who has experience in these areas, let me know by emailing rodentcontrol1@gmail.com LSP

I live in the Carmel Valley area which is covered by Del Mar Highlands #2 HOA. I like many other residents am disgusted that I have to share my environment with rats because of the negligence of the BoD and the Management company.
