c.j. rock is a third year student at the University of Maryland majoring in Spanish Language & Literature. s/he has completed the College Park Scholars program in American Cultures/Cultures of the Americas, and is pursuing the Certificate of LGBT Studies offered at UMD. currently, c.j. is contemplating pursuing the recently approved US Latina/o Studies minor. c.j. also took a lot of Japanese, getting up to JAPN301, but decided s/he already had a ridiculous amount of credits and needed to slow down.

as Director of Student groups for the \'08-\'09, c.j. would like to continue and expand upon the initiatives started (with others) by Ruth Igielnik, currently in the position: Cultural Council, the O.N.E. UMD Conference, and a speakers series of successful young leaders, and the newly launched uHub for UMD. s/he would also like to start new initiatves which would bring together student leaders from different groups, as well as encourage more interaction between student leaders and faculty/staff to make necessary change happen.
