We are writing to voice our concern over the Rockoff Hall fitness center hours. For a 9 month two semester contract Rockoff Hall residents pay on average $700 dollars more to live here as opposed to the comparable apartment on Easton Avenue. Given the significant disparity in price one would assume that the residents of Rockoff Hall would get additional accommodations to account for the $700 difference. However, this is quite the opposite. Rockoff, which advertises having a “fitness center” on-site does not accommodate the residents of Rockoff Hall. The average Rutgers student takes 4 to 5 classes per week meaning the average student spends approximately 12 hours a week in classes and 4 hours a day in classes. Those calculations are also not taking into account the many extracurricular activities and/or jobs that most Rockoff Hall residents are engaged in. Given these facts it seems absurd that Rockoff Hall, which charges approx. $700 more than the Easton Avenue apartments, is open 44 hours a week when the Easton Avenue Fitness Center is open 97 hours a week. The hours that the Rockoff Residence Hall fitness center is open are disperse and inconvenient while the Easton Avenue fitness center accommodates their residents by being open Mon.-Fri. 7am-11pm while the Rockoff fitness center is open Mon-Fri. 7am-11am and then is closed from 11am-5pm. Then the fitness center opens again from 5pm to 9pm, which is when a significant amount of Rockoff residents are either in class or at their extracurriculars and/or jobs. Something must be changed, we, the residents of Rockoff Hall, are unsatisfied with the Rockoff Hall fitness center hours. PLEASE SIGN BELOW TO VOICE YOUR DISCONTENT
