A Petition to Request the Reappointment of South Orange Village Clerk, Robin Kline

WHEREAS, Robin Kline has honorably and professionally served the Township of South Orange Village for the past 3 years as Village Clerk and Registrar; and

WHEREAS, Robin Kline has improved productivity, efficiency, organization, automation and transparency within the Clerk's Office; and

WHEREAS, Robin Kline has increased the use of technology for residents within the Clerk's office; and

WHEREAS, Robin Kline has provided outstanding Customer Service to all residents who have interacted with her; and

WHEREAS, Robin Kline's initial 3-year term as Village Clerk ended on August 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees issued an online statement on August 20, 2013 that the Village Clerk’s appointment and service to the Village will end on September 30, 2013; and

WHEREAS, on August 20, 2013 the Board of Trustees issued an online statement that "expressed a fundamental opposition to tenure and is exploring its options at this time and intends to address the issue of tenure with the State Legislature"; and

WHEREAS, there has been NO public discussion of the Board of Trustees' position on tenure; and

WHEREAS, there as been no publicly voted on resolution to codify this personnel decision; and

WHEREAS, Robin Kline has been an exemplary employee who is also opposed to tenure; and

WHEREAS, the loss of Robin Kline would be a huge loss to South Orange; now

THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the undersigned do hereby request that the South Orange Board of Trustees reconsider this decision and immediately reappoint Robin Kline as Village Clerk, while simultaneously working with the State Legislature to address the issue of tenure.
