Comments: Stop doubling and tripling fines. If someone is having trouble paying the fines as they are, what makes you think their able to pay off tripled fines It makes no sense. Do you want people to be able to drive in Chicago or not Taking away their license and only offering payment plans that can be up to $400 a month does not help the average joe. Instead they lose their license and possibly their job.

Comments: I lived in Chicago for 15 years and end up with 6500 dollars for parking ticket. I tried to make payement arrangement with the city but they insisted that the full amount is needed. They end up putting a hold on my Illinois driving licence and now I am not able to renew my licence in any other state. I am willing to pay all my ticket with payment plan but it is impossible for me to pay the full amount.

Comments: I feel that the City of Chicago is very wrong for charging so much for parking tickets. The City already charges a high fee just for a window sticker then the parking lots charge so much because they can get away with it and then there are no where near enough places to park. On top of that they limit places where you can park by time of day. I went to a hardware store on South Halsted and got a ticket while I was loading some windows, how can you not park in front of a business that sells large items That's why I moved from Chicago and I am never coming back!!!!!

Comments: If the city wants their money then re-institute the amnesty program. My Apt. is a block from the EL, and my loop office is literally about 15 steps from the EL. I sold my car 8 years ago and haven't needed it since, so amnesty is the ONLY way I will ever pay off my outstanding tickets, and I know at least 4 other people in exactly the same position. If amnesty were re-instituted I would pay them off just to get them out of the way, otherwise I have all of the time in the world to wait or they just simply won't get their money. Chicago says theye're broke, but their certainly not doing anything other than threats to get people to pay. Go ahead and boot my non-existant car, but if you actually want to get paid then offer AMNESTY.

Comments: The poor, the underclass, the underpriviledged really don't get a break, do they. Kick them when they're down..even though they might try hard to work and make things right. Someones always out to get them and bring them back to where they tried to get out of. What a shame.

Comments: I am sorry to hear all these stories of the unemployed, booted cars, and others who can't pay tickets. I am a single mother and just started working, and moved from a different state and was unaware of the back and front plates required in Ill. Fees were duobled and outrageous. Petitioned a ticket and proper info. nothing was done, I still have to pay. I hope these laws will soon be reasonable fees, fair, and considerate. Hope for the people.

Comments: The parking ticket system is unconciounable and contains only the illusion of due process (both substantial and procedural). This can have unanticipated effects on peoples lives who simply cannot afford to pay or contest their tickets, and who depend on their cars. I know it has had an unforseen and potentially devastating effect in my case. Some kind of releif needs to be available.

Comments: There has been an enormous increase in parking tickets issued lately. I was close to accepting a job out of state over the summer so I didn't purchase a neighborhood permit. I got close to $400 worth of tickets. Although I'm not in the working poor category, my budget is tight and these tickets outright broke my bank. I believe the city should allow people to go on a payment plan if they have several tickets to pay and limited funds. The ticket fines are excessive as it is ($130 for no city sticker -- my God!). If the city needs money so bad that it resorts to robber baron tactics, at least let people split up their payments so they don't go broke.

Comments: Hello my name is Anita Tyler and I am a single mom of three; I currently have approximately 5 tickets and I'm sure a candidate for the Denver Bootlist!! I work everyday but it's hard not having sufficient enough help to make life easier. I try hard to be careful about where I park and abide by the laws of this state, but sometimes situations warrant you to do things differently. I need my vehicle because I am the sole provider for my children and caring for them is definitely my #1 PRIORITY.

BUT THEY DECLINED, IT WAS ALL OR NOTHING! I REALIZE THAT MOST OF THE PARKING TICKETS WERE MY FAULT BUT DALEY DOESN'T EVEN OFFER THE CHANCE TO PAY AS YOU CAN.IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN HELP

Comments: i have so many tickets ii's crazy. It's tax season and 'm willing to pay for my tickets IF they bring back the amnesty program until then they will have to wait on it because like so many of us already know that most of the tickets are doubled anyway and I'm not paying for that. we can't pay for the first one. I've had plenty of cars towed and now I just get a ride to work or get a bus card. this is really sickening!!!!

Comments: My name is AnnJeanette Rice and I have worked to try and take care of myself ever since the age of 15, I am turning 30 next month. I got my driver's license in 2004 or 2005 and I have had 3 cars booted by the City of Chicago and 2 of those were destroyed because I was not able to pay my parking tickets and I don't believe that this was fair at all and to this day I have not spoken to anyone who was able to enlighten the situation. I do agree that the parking tickets are my responsibility but what am I to do If I am not able to pay them at the time that my cars were booted and destroyed. I don't understand how can I still owe the parking tickets and have had my cars destroyed.

Also I think it is horrible that they will not give me a hardship license so that i have a way to work to pay for the tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The sad thing about the whole situation is that none are from a moving violation.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments: Here's the scenario: I owed $600.00 (my bad), and was offered this as a payment plan: $500.00 down, and $8.33/month for a year. How ridiculous is that! The city could recoup untold millions of dollars if only it offered a REASONABLE plan, say the amount you owe divided by 12 months, and perhaps interest.

Comments: Mr. Daley, If you had not removed all the parking meters, maybe people would be able to park WITHOUT getting a ticket. I do not even live in Chicago, nor do I owe any parking tickets, but it infuriates me how the government loves to tack on ridiculous fees and make the poor even poorer!
