The lack of parking spaces and inadequate footpath and crossing point outside St Michael’s Primary School, Withyham, East Sussex, is a cause for concern for parents of children at the school and local residents alike. It leads to dangerous driving and the general consensus amongst parents is that it is only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. This situation could be improved by making additional lay-bys using environmentally friendly grass-crete on the existing verge, which would provide safe parking places without the verge being destroyed as is currently the case. In addition to this, providing a proper pavement between the entrance to Balls Green and the school, and narrowing the road at the crossing point would greatly increase the children’s safety on their way to and from school. If you are in agreement with the above, please sign the petition. Copies will be sent to Charles Hendry, MP for Wealden, East Sussex County Council, Wealden Council and Withyham Parish Council.
