Name: Anonymous on Feb 20, 2007Comments: I am outraged at the complete lack of transparency regarding the employment of new RMIT Union staff. Not only were PD's not developed in conjunction with any real staff representation, applicants where informed that PD's where changed on the day of interview for a few short-listed applicants. Disgraceful. To top this, staff where at the mercy of the "interview" panel, subjected one applicant to over 1 and 1/2 hours interview - all this for a $40k role...methinks that they need to get over themselves! I beleive elected staff representatives play a signficant role in a capacity that benefits both parties. 1. A fair and impartial advocate ensuring transparency in the process along with 2. Pulling the organisation up when its about to disregard policy and negotiate a better way forward and adherence to process...tough job, who'd want to do it but what's worse is what the hell are we going to do without themFlag

Name: Meredith Kidby on Feb 20, 2007Comments: My position at RMIT has recently been made redundant on the basis of a Business case that I believe was poorly researched, opinion-based and lacked real evidence. RMIT has devolved HR and workplanning processes and procedures to individual areas such as Portfolios, but has failed to set checks in place to ensure that these are being carried out. Existing HR and workplanning already lacks transparency and management accountability. 'Spill and Fill' approaches need no further encouragement - as far as I can see they are currently being used in many areas of RMIT. As a staff member faced with redundancy, I found I had no protection, because standard HR and workplanning procedures have never been followed properly in the five years I have been at RMIT. RMIT is not facing the realities of the situation and will be making a major mistake in the changes proposed to the General Staff Transition Guidelines and in the new Recruitment and Selection policy.Flag

Name: Lois Roberts on Feb 20, 2007Comments: I'm new to this organisation and proud to belong. But I don't want to belong to a right-wing conservative organisation that doesn't have principles values or care about people. I want to belong to a forward thinking proactive progressive and compassionate organisation. Please amend your practices to reflect this.Flag
