26408 Ned CooneyMost of Houston's old theaters are gone now - the Loews State, the Majestic, the Metropolitan, the Delman . . . is it too much to ask to preserve these two? Is there anything in Houston that isn't in danger of the wrecking ball? I went to my first movie at the Alabama, and on my first date at the River Oaks, so the sentimental value is great here. Can we please stop the insanity?

26410 AnonymousI can't believe you would even consider removing this amazing building. Must be nice to have so very many like it that it can be demolished to make way for yet another bland high-rise. I live in Vancouver where we have very, very few wonderful pieces left. The Marine Building is all we have left - lots of boring, uninspired high-rises... pity some people have no respect for art and history...

26412 Clint BiggerstaffI left Houston in 2003, and I just learned of this travesty. The River Oaks & Alabama theatres were 2 of my very favorite destinations during my time in Houston and must be preserved!
26413 KellieMust we destroy everything for more concrete and glass? Keep our theater!

26430 Alethea NelsonI lived in the Montrose area for many years. To lose these art-deco buildings would be a shame. They add a lot of character to the area and should be saved so future generations can enjoy them.

26439 David SavageYour responsibility to the city of Houston and as the steward of an invaluable part of its architectural history, supercede your duties as CEO to your shareholders, and you should realize that. Some things are more important than short-term profit. Please do NOT demolish the Alabama or the River Oaks. Houston will thank you.
