Ashley Shifflet | Please don't tear it down!!!! I have so many great memories there. It is truly one of Houston's defining establishments.
Michael Byrd | I can't count how many great movies I've seen here. One of the few unique/historic spots left in my home town.

Anonymous | It is vital that certain landmarks be preserved - we have enough highrises and cement.
Anonymous | I recently moved back here from Seattle, WA. While up there, I noticed that the city combines old and new architecture. They don't tear down dated buildings to make way for younger ones. Instead they find ways to make it work. I think this is partly because the citizens of Seattle appreciate their architecture and will protest to save it. That is what makes the city neat. Houston also has some great architecture. I think the area would be robbed of its unique characteristic if the theater were to be replaced by another chain bookstore and high-rise living. Please don't tear down the River Oaks Theater or Bookstop.
Carol Bayens | My husband and I love this old theater with its coffee bar upstairs and its great films. Don't tear down such a unique place only to be found in Houston

Clayton Kucera | I think its a shame that Weingarten is even DREAMING of doing this to these wonderful old buildings. There are few old landmarks left here in Houston and we need to preserve them. I live just down the street from the River Oaks Theater and drive by it at least 3 or 4 times a week. There's ALWAYS people outside. There is no reason it should be torn down. Its just ignorant to do so. What will they tear down next? City Hall? Its old, the land is more valuable, who's to stop them? This city need zoning laws for situations just like this.
Chris Daigle | Let's save these Houston Landmarks for future generations!
Anonymous | Will developers ever stop chasing money to appreciate the inherent beauty, and historical significance of such structures?
Gilbert Joseph Perez |
Catherine Roberts | Please help also the Rutherford BH Yates Museum, Inc. to save the few remaining historic houses, churches, archaeology sites, and historic brick streets in the ONLY remaining, post Civil War, National Register Historic District of its kind in the US; Freedmen's Town, founded by previously enslaved peoples immediately after Emancipation in 19th Century.
Peter K. Lindsley | Greed should not dictate developers' thoughtless actions that have irreversible effects on communities.

Patrick Spong | We judge ancient civilizations by the monuments they leave behind. Let Houston have at least monument from this era!

Ronald & Sandra Scott | Stop the greed. Famous and historic structures should not be demolished so a corporation or a few individuals can make still more bucks building another Starbucks or Condo in this demented city. There are plenty of ugly blocks and need to be torn down and rebuilt without touching the very few historic homes or buildings still standing. This city and its corporate leaders may be rich in money but it and they are poor in spirit and have no heart.
Laura Elvebak | Save River Oaks Theater as one of the remaining attractions Houston has to offer. This would be a great loss to the city and its patrons and visitors.

Robert G. Miller | Developers are destroying the things that make Houston great so that that they can have a new bukidfing in a city they have made colorless.

Teresa Dresden | I love this place and it is part of my history...of Houston's history. I'm tired of this city tearing down everything of interest to put up something ugly and modern
