Reid Carazzonedon't take my sunshine away!
Mary RichardsThat is terrible, there are so few Historic sites left in Houston. Dont do this!
beth richardsAs a former business officer for the Guild Shop of St. John the Divine in Houston, I learned to appreciate the treasures of the past, and I admire the work that GHPA accomplishes. Although I currently live in Austin, where many warriors wage a daily battle against development with purely profit motives and a disregard for anything else in their paths, I will always care deeply about the preservation efforts that are much more of an uphill battle in Houston. Good for you GHPA!

Michael SharpPlease add my name to the list of concerned who oppose the demolition of the River Oaks Movie Theatre.
Laura Cotton
Bob ClayI believe that the River Oaks Theater and the Alabama Theater should be preserved for their historical significance. These buildings are unique examples of the Art Deco style of architecture in the Houston area which could never be replaced.

Martin De LeonI lived in Houston my for twenty years. I have visited the Alabama Theater and the River Oaks Shopping Center countless times and implore you to have some civic pride. Please, do not destroy the last two symbols of character in Houston.

Alexa WheelerI grew up 5 minutes from the River Oaks Theatre. I also worked there! Please do not tear down this beautiful part of history and turn the River Oaks shopping center into just another strip mall in America.

Catherine TuckerPlease don't tear down this historical landmark.
Dan RobicheauxStop Weingarten from destroying our city's architectural heritage.
Ellen M. CollierHouston already has hundreds of bookstores and lofts--why tear down a vital part of Houston history just for yet one more retail/residential area? There are numerous vacant lots and areas to build new structures. This overbuilding will backfire soon--remember the condo craze in the 1980s. Let's preserve Houston's past before it't too late--so it doesn't become one big retail mecca and parking lot!
Gary E. CollierPlease keep Houston's history alive and well! Does Weingarten really want to destroy Houston's heritage? There are other places to build lofts and bookstores--we don't need more concrete towers and parking lots in the oldest parts of Houston! Do you want the city to look like one big monolithic skyline and parking lot? Save River Oaks center, the Landmark and Bookstop!

Duncan ElliottI have noticed that in place of one half of the deco facade Weingarten has put up an eyesore of a blacktop parking lot with no shrubs and trees. Is this permissible, and how is this in the interest of Weingarten Realty investors. It is a disgrace.

Stan Hancockas a property owner at 1601 s. shepherd, i would hate to lose this neighborhood landmark.
Georgina DavisPlease save this wonderful center. There are so few good, historical centers in Houston. Learn from other cities who have regretted demolishing parts of their history!
Cathryn CummingsBoth the River Oaks Theater and the Alabama Theater hold precious memories of growing up in Houston. Having moved away from Houston years ago, both landmarks provide great comfort when visiting family still living in Houston. I would be very upset if one day I were to return to find them gone.
