Jeff Balke | River Oaks Theater is a landmark and it must be saved.
Anonymous | There are tons of B&N's around Houston, but only one 3 Brothers Bakery, only one River Oaks Theatre, etc. There's lots of undeveloped land just down the street...perfect for an overpriced chain bookstore! I certainly won't be patronizing that store if it becomes a reality in the place of these Houston landmarks!

Brent Ericson | The River Oaks Theater is a real tresure and part of our history. This is something worth preserving. Develop your real estate elsewhere.

Cidnie Spence | I have been a long time and frequent customer of the River Oaks Center. If the historic elements are destroyed, I will never spend a singl penny in the center again.

Katya Horner | It's a shame that no landmark in the city of Houston is considered sacred. Weingarten's decision to tear down a Houston institution (or two...or three!) is an embarrassment. I'll protest by boycotting Weingarten Realty tenants.

Marilyn Balke-Lowry | For those of us who are native Houstonians, watching our many theaters razed to build skyscrapers has been heartbreaking. Is there no memory that is sacred? The River Oaks and Alabama Theaters are the last vestige of Houston moviegoers history. Stop this outrageous mistake from taking place in our city!
Randall Murrow | I live in River Oaks, frequent the theater as well as the shopping center, and would gladly stand in front of a bulldozer to save the River Oaks Theater.
Charles Kuffner | If we keep bulldozing Houston's history, eventually we'll have none left to bulldoze.
Anonymous | This is an insanely bad idea that will put one more reason on the list for interesting, creative, money-spending people in Houston to leave the city for ANYWHERE ELSE. We won't let you tear down this beloved place without a fight.
| 24 | Chris Loocke | This place needs to be preserved.
Corporate america is ruining everything. |
sabrina malone | I am currently serving in the Navy, but when I come home to Houston, I enjoy getting together with old friends to go to this wonderful and HISTORICAL landmark and see movies that are otherwise unavailable elsewhere

| 42 | Lee Alexander | Three generations of Houstonians have memories attached to that theater. I know this petition won't move you enough to stop what you plan to do - but it's still a shame that you're doing it. I hope your dignity was worth all the money you expect to gain from this move.

Kenneth Gramann | I am a native Houstonian and grew up in out out of the area surrounding the River Oaks Theater, including being a graduate of St. Thomas H.S. The loss of the theater and it's surroundings would be a great setback to the area. It's history is irreplacable and invaluable. Keep the theater and the complex.

Kerry Goelzer | Houston is just now coming into its own as a cool, livable city. Careful consideration of preservation of existing urban spaces and buildings (such as the River Oaks Shopping Center entry from Kirby, the River Oaks Theater, and the Bookstop Building) is critical to maintain this momentum!
William E. Barfield | I can't believe this is even being considered. What a MAJOR loss to this city it will be if done.
Daniel G. Sommars |
David Guetzow | I am so pissed I can't see straight. Weigngarten's CEOs should be tar and feathered, Count me in on ANY protests or petitions drives. I'll lay down in fromnt of the #$@% bulldozers!
