Name: Anonymous on Jul 23, 2006Comments: There are tons of B&N's around Houston, but only one 3 Brothers Bakery, only one River Oaks Theatre, etc. There's lots of undeveloped land just down the street...perfect for an overpriced chain bookstore! I certainly won't be patronizing that store if it becomes a reality in the place of these Houston landmarks!Flag

Name: Katya Horner on Jul 23, 2006Comments: It's a shame that no landmark in the city of Houston is considered sacred. Weingarten's decision to tear down a Houston institution (or two...or three!) is an embarrassment. I'll protest by boycotting Weingarten Realty tenants.Flag

Name: Marilyn Balke-Lowry on Jul 23, 2006Comments: For those of us who are native Houstonians, watching our many theaters razed to build skyscrapers has been heartbreaking. Is there no memory that is sacred The River Oaks and Alabama Theaters are the last vestige of Houston moviegoers history. Stop this outrageous mistake from taking place in our city!Flag

I know this petition won't move you enough to stop what you plan to do - but it's still a shame that you're doing it. I hope your dignity was worth all the money you expect to gain from this move. -Lee Alexander alexandersongs.comFlag

The loss of the theater and it's surroundings would be a great setback to the area. It's history is irreplacable and invaluable. Keep the theater and the complex.Flag

Careful consideration of preservation of existing urban spaces and buildings (such as the River Oaks Shopping Center entry from Kirby, the River Oaks Theater, and the Bookstop Building) is critical to maintain this momentum!Flag
