Comments: It's time for new blood and vision in the Licking County Animal Control Department. The citizens of Licking County need to be educated about animal safety, control and health so there isn't so much over-population and problems in our community. Luzio has proven he is not the person who is going to lead our LCAS into the future-we need someone new NOW!

Comments: I highly recommend the County Commissioners look to Officer Todd Baran of Bolingbrook Animal Control (Bolingbrook, IL) as an example of the type of leadership desperately needed in Licking County. He is a caring, dedicated individual who has a proven track record of working successfully with rescue groups from across the country.

Comments: The commissioners can look locally at Franklin County Animal Shelter's Lisa Wahoff, who works tiressly to SAVE animals, not look for reasons to kill them. FCAS holds events, extends their hours of operation to accomodate the public, doesn't allow a dog to leave unaltered, has an extensive foster program, has an adoption process - including application, etc. Jon Luzio & members of his staff have not progressed Licking County into the 21st Century with regard to spay/neuter, no kill movement, adoption vs. purchase, etc. It's time for a change - for the better. ONLY citizens who know & love dogs & cats should be in an animal control position. Then & only then will they make decisions in the best interest of the animal.

Comments: I for one would not want the job that Mr. Luzio has and I can see how it would harden a person. He has lost all compassion for the animals over the years and is seeing everything black and white. I have heard horror stories about this man for years. This is long over do for him to step down!! I know first hand that the groups fighting for these animals (because I adopted one of these dogs and a cat from them!) are not "crazy" unreasonable people. They have there eyes wide open and have done amazing things in finding so many of these animals good homes and a second chance. They shouldn't have to fight the dog warden to do it!!! That's just nonsense and needs to stop now!!!

Comments: As an owner of Wainfors K-9 Obedience for 25 + years, I attempted to work with Mr. Luzio numberous times. One attempt was that I offered free obedience to any students that took dogs from the Animal Shelter. He turned it down and advised his staff he did not want his office to work with us.

Comments: This can only become a greater problem for Licking County if left unadressed. We considered moving to and living in Licking County as we are relocating from Columbus. We changed our mind as to where to relocate upon hearing about such poor treatment of animals and such disregard for public opinion.

Comments: Jon Luzio is a power-hungry, bigoted, cruel man. How he ever was appointed Dog Warden in the first place is a big mystery because no one is less qualified. He uses his position to to kill innocent animals when qualified, reputable rescues have stepped up to save those animals. He lies about what the laws of the State of Ohio and misinterprets state and municipal law in any way that will allow him to kill more innocent animals. He is a DISGRACE and each day he is allowed to continue as dog warden of Licking County is another black eye for your county.

Comments: So few animals get the opportunity to be rescued that when a group steps in to save a dog ALL options should be exhausted. The basset hound that John put to sleep was an owner relinquished dog with the name "Chance". How ironic, considering the poor dog never had one. Save a Life Adopt a Rescue Dog (of course this only applies if the shelter will let you)!!

Comments: I am a therapy dog trainer and a member of several highly credibal non profit training organazations as well as I owner a GSD retiered therapy dog. I find it appalling that this person was even concidered for this possition and should have been checked out about his activities as a breeder. Dogs that are calm of nature and love humans & other dogs and do not make it as Rescue Dogs make great therapy dogs and give so much love to those, is great need of that love. Also so many dogs that are rescued from shelters or breed foster homes also make great therapy dogs. There are not enough therapy dogs out there but there are so many that need educated on how they too can share their's and their dogs love to others through training and being certified. I am the Ohio 2007 Finalist for the Jefferson Award and am educating others in every way I can by speaking were ever I am needed about this wonderful fullfilling volunteer work (which is not work at all). People like this person mentioned about make such a bad mark in so many ways through out the dog industry. SAME ON YOU!!!!!

Comments: This is just a statement, I am in no way signing this. I think there should be a little more info on this be for I put my name to it. First off who is "we the undersigned" How are you people connected with this shelter Why would these Commissioners put up with Mr. Luzio for more that 32 years if he was doing all these things wrong I see you give these "reasons" but you hide who you are. You leave people no way of asking questions on this matter. People are supposed to just sign this with no way of finding out anything but what you tell them. This is very one sided! I would like to know more on this, you can reach me at rstlne1@yahoo.com

Comments: This sounds like people with too much time on their hands. You people have no idea about anyone in this shelter. There are some very caring people that work there. Do you honestly think anyone who hates animals would do the job these people do Do you have to go to someones house where they have abused a dog or animal on a daily bases, walk into houses with feces and urine throughout it because they don't take care of their pets Deal with people like you guys everyday No you don't. So give them some credit and try to help the situation not slander everyone!
