Uniforms...as you know Salem high school has been ordered to wear uniforms. As i talked to teachers and asked why do we have to wear them the only answers given were because students that are less fortunate get picked on and to save money. If they are the only reasons they can give than uniforms are definitely not the best way to do things. i say this because, students get picked on for everything, it could be how they wear their uniform, if their pants are to high, if their shirt is to big, of if their shirt is a weird color. So nothing has changed, it's the exact same way when we wear our regular clothes. Yes, i do agree that it is very harsh and immature, but no matter what you do it's going to happen. Why make every kid suffer for those that decide to be immature. You may say uniforms cost less and that's helpful to the parents but i beg to differ. students already have things like jeans, shirts, sweat pants, jackets and things like that so when you say none of that is allowed they have to spend even more money just to buy uniforms; while the money that they already have spent is just going to waste because we're not allowed to wear them. with that being said it's not helping parents it's hurting them. Enforcing the uniform rule is time consuming too. Teachers spend more time arguing and trying to get kids in uniforms then they do teaching and kids spend more time in ISS then they do in the class room. In conclusion Uniforms are doing more bad things then the good your trying to do. to prove this i have gotten signatures from all the students that agree with me.
