Comments: This proposed development has no advantage for Purton Parish. It will however have many disadvantages which will impinge on the life of the residents. Extra housing, for the almost city sized Swindon should be in the borough of Swindon. It has space, infrastructure, better public transport and job possibilities for the residents of new housing.

Comments: It is imperitive that we prevent the urban sprawl and its inadaquate infrastructure fron swallowing up the small towns and villages and distroying the quality and ambiance of the lives of its residence. To prevent this from accurring there is the requirment to impose a greenbelt or buffer zone which will prevent any such coalescence.

Comments: The road infrastructure in the area does not support such a development.

Comments: In addition to the above reasons the traffic levels in Purton are already very high with the landfill site now fulfilling a regional role and the household recycling centre being used by Swindon residents as well as the people from the local area. A significant amount of traffic also comes from the people who live on the North Swindon development as well as the buses and cars that come into the village to the comprehensive school . Short of knocking down half the High Street little can be done to alter the main road through the village and significant improvement would have to be made to the railway bridge. Such changes would totally destroy the character of the village!

Comments: Coalescence with small settlements of the size of Purton is unacceptable. The charatcer and community of this small settlement will be destroyed forever. It is important that this community retains its individual identity. Reinstate the rural buffer Swindon is a water stressed area with 80% of its water requirements imported from Oxford. Any further development will increase the need for additional water and is not sustainable.

Comments: The "fear" of the towns and villages around Swindon being swallowed up by an Urban expansion around Swindon was the common unifying factor in the creation of the Wootton Basset and Cricklade Community Area. This development will lead to coalescence as well as creating nothing but further problems to the outlying villages and Towns.

Comments: How much longer have we to put up with mass desicration of the countryside & its inhabitants. How much longer do we have to put up with developers dictating to goverment what should be going on? How much longer do welisten to so called officials who have never set foot in our shire telling us this is what you will have/ When will you realize that filling our country with concrete will not solve anything.

Comments: As with previous proposals the infrastructure is unable to accommodate such a large development, housing is currently available in the area and has been for some considerable time. Why not use the soon to be vacant RAF Lyneham site?
