It has come to our attention that in the new school year that students in head start now how to address the teachers as Mr/Mrs last name. We feel this may confuse the children already attending and also take away that comfortable family like presence that the children get by calling them by their names. We have discussed haveing them using the Mr/Mrs in front of first name, which will still give them the feeling of authoritythat the stated is looking for and also comfort of the children being able to relate to the teachers as a family like instructor. Remember head start is not technichally school, it is a transition and we would like to help them move at a pace that is comfortable for them. Please give us your feedback on what you think the children should call the head start staff.
