Since July 15, 2011, five horses have been recovering under the loving care of Richard and Robin Mills of the Buck Creek Valley Rescue Farm after being saved by Harrison County Police from what was certain death after being discovered closed up in a hot, unventilated barn. The Mills have provided around the clock care, countless hours of labor and have aquired over $11,000 of out of pocket expenses after answering a call from Harrison County officials who asked for their help with the horses. Despite all efforts by the Mills one of the horses, sadly, will have to be euthanized.
Last Thursday, Jan. 12, a judge ruled, at the request of the abusive owner, that the remaining horses be transfered to the owner's mother and friend. Not a dime of compensation for Buck Creek Valley Rescue Farm was ordered.
We ask for your help by signing this petition for Richard and Robin to assume ownership of the recovered horses so that they can arrange adoptions to assure they go to good homes and recoup at least some of the funds spent to care for them.
Every signature will help and is sincerely appreciated.
