Name: Carolline Rider on Feb 16, 2010Comments: ArchCare must quickly develop respect for both local law and for local heritage. Mrs. Astor, who gave the property to the Church, would be VERY distressed to see how the Church is conducting itself on her historic property.Flag

Name: R. O. Blechman on Feb 16, 2010Comments: River Road is one of the most beautiful and historically-significant roads in the Rhinebeck area, and inappropriate signage is a blight. It lowers the quality of life for everyone. This is the estate road, and one whose scenic and historic integrity must be preserved. I reside elsewhere in Columbia County (Ancram), but cherish my visits to this road.Flag

Name: Pola Chapelle on Feb 16, 2010Comments: The ArchCare signs are instantly noticeable and in a rather strange way, aggressive, after the tranquil entrance sign that once was there. Doesn't look like they Care about the elderly in the home; looks like they Care abou the dollars they're making.Flag

Name: Steve Roasenberg on Feb 16, 2010Comments: In addition to our general interest in maintaining the historic character of River Road, we hold a conservation easement on lands in that vicinity, so we have a particular interest in the issue. Hopefully this will have an impact and result in a more sympathetic design.Flag

Name: Madelaine Piel on Feb 17, 2010Comments: A Nursing Home is a community facility. The Applicant knew what type of community it had purchased a high end facility. The Applicant should act like a responsible member of the this community which prides itself on graceful historic preservation. The conflicting signage should be removed immediately and replaced with the original signage in the original locations or if destroyed a facsimile. What part of neighborly does this new corporate neighbor not understand - throughout America there is massive erosion of what we hold dear -- our heritage roads and neighborhoods. Be a good neighbor ArchCare at Ferncliff. The community is watching.Flag
