Dear PHS Community, It is with much sadness that I write to inform you that the superintendent has opted not to renew the appointment of Robin Futch, my mother, as Assistant Principal at Pasco High School. As you all know, she has spent 26 years at Pasco High, and 30 years in the district, dedicating her service to the students and teachers. She was told three months ago that she would be returning for one more year but she recently found out that this offer has been unjustly rescinded. Needless to say I am very disappointed and concerned about the future of our district and the future of Pasco High School. I will accompany my mother to present her story publicly at this Tuesday's (June 16) school board meeting in Land O Lakes. The meeting begins at 6:00pm and the public has the opportunity to speak at the end of the meeting. Superintendent Fiorentino's decision to rescind the offer of reappointment, after promising her one more year at her position, is not in the best interest of the school. This is even more unfair considering that the conditions of her one-year appointment were that she would return at entry-level pay for the year and this was something she agreed to. That is how powerfully she felt that her time at Pasco was not finished. I am asking for your support, either via this petition, phone, letter, email, or in person at the meeting. I'm including contact information for Superintendent Fiorentino and the School Board members in the links section of this petition. It seems there is no chance that she will get her job back, but I want a public record of the current work practices of the District. I am devastated that she is being forced out of her job and hope that you will voice your concern over this decision. Thank you so very much for continually supporting her throughout her last 26 years. Pasco High School has been her life, my life and our second family and I know she will miss it dearly. I had hoped that one year from now I would be contacting folks and gathering stories for a wonderful retirement celebration. Instead, we're asking you to sign the petition below (which you may do so anonymously and your email will NOT be shared) by sharing a story or memory of my Mom and how she may have helped you at PHS. Thus, this is less of a petition and more of a chance to sign and share in solidarity with Mrs. Futch and to let the Superintendent and School Board know that we don't support this decision.
