Joseph W. O'Donnell | Part of any solution must be to set up one school system state wide to ensure an equal corriculem, and then cut the duplicative supervisory costs substantially - whichg means, fire the beaurocracy.

Howard O'Donovan | it's about time we stood up and expresed just how unfair this tax is
Ralph F. Colin, Jr. |
Nancy Polk | Act 60 was an ill-conceived plan, too complicated for the average person to predict its consequences. Then it rolled in over time, so it was difficult to see what
William H. Cooley | The statewide property tax was bad legislation from the start and must be repealed.

Teresa Merelman | Vermont is taxing primary residents out of some towns and out of the State! I love this state but admit that I am fed up with trying to pay property taxes. My income has not risen, in fact, it has declined. Please change it now!

Thom Serrani | The taxes in Vermont are outrageous. My wife and I are fed up with legislators who continue to drive up spending and tax us more year after year. There has to be an end to this madness.
Anonymous | Brigham's analysis was flawed. Each Vermont child may be a state right to an "adequate" education, but nowhere can you find a state right to an "equal" education. As a state we should be trying to define what an adequate educational opportunity is. We should then make sure each community has enough funds - less wealthy towns being helping by redistribution of money from more fortunate towns if necessary - to provide an "adequate" education to all of its children.

marion baraw | I manage commercial property in Stowe and in the last few years my owners have seen the property taxes almost triple. Rents have not been able to keep pace as these types of increases would drive small business owners out of business. A "double whammy" is the value of income producing commercial property is based on pre-debt net. and that has gone down every year since Act 60/68.
