The University of Tampa has created a rule for the housing selection process that prioritizes incoming freshmen and transfers, at the cost of everyone else. There have been many upperclassmen that don't get on campus housing prior to this rule, and this will make it even harder for them because upperclassmen will be considered last for housing. By signing this petition, we hereby request consideration to reverse the changes in the housing selection.

As a parent I am not sure I will allow my daughter to return to school if campus housing is not available. The housing was one of the main reasons that we chose your school It provided a safe environment in which to learn all four years

I believe that it is unfair freshman have priority over all other students, students who have been loyal to UT for years. Especially athletes. As a manager for the volleyball team it is unfair to expect players to live off campus and commute for practices, and then classes

This policy will only further increase the already very high transfer rate. For students already struggling to make ends meet who cannot afford to live off campus it is essentially forcing them to leave the university if they cannot live in on campus housing.

Why change the priority system? It is logical that seniors gain precedence over juniors etc. I understand the need for freshman housing but, do not de value the committed students who have put in a tremendous amount of time, money, effort and loyalty to this school.

Upperclassmen are taking more advanced classes so they don't have time to travel from off campus. The new system also removes the incentive to complete more credit hours since that no longer has any bearing on the selection process.

I get that the university wants Freshman to feel involved but at the same time, over 50% of students are from out-of-state and do not have cars to drive to and from campus. It makes sense that as you get older, the housing gets better- not the opposite.

Absolutely despicable of UT to have done this to the upperclassmen when they have been paying the exorbitant tuition all these years.

My son had to squeeze in a triple with a double attached as a freshman. 5 dudes with 1 bathroom and we pay $5k/semester. There should be some loyalty to students(and parents) who have paid their dues!!!!!!
