The PC government’s 2013 budget cut $42 million dollars in funding from community access programs for persons with developmental disabilities.

This government is being shamelessly dishonest when it tells families of disabled Albertans that outcomes for their loved ones can be improved by cutting $42 million dollars in supports. These cuts mean that not only will many Albertans with disabilities lose support to attend community programs, but many will lose essential services.

We, the undersigned, petition the PC Government to immediately reverse these harmful cuts to PDD programs.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this effort since I started it. If we can reach five thousand signatures together, those in power will have a much harder time ignoring the needs of so many families.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to support this cause. We are so nearly at one hundred signatures and I truly believe if each person here just mentions this to one other neighbor we will hit that mark by tonight. This momentum belongs entirely to you.

They should be ashamed. Their actions are inhuman. Cutting essential services services to the most vulnerable is a cowardly act.

Some people with Asperger's syndrome need support by means of counselling and psychiatric assistance. However, with community and medical support, they can be hard working, productive individuals who hold down full time employment and pay income tax. Treating such patients as second class citizens in Canada is appalling and "criminal". Cutting funding to these individuals will cost a lot more than $42M in the long run if they are unemployed and pay no income tax on zero earnings. This government is so short sighted. Shame!!

My son relies on these programs every day. Taking this away is just cruel and shows they dont care about regular families.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. How can they justify this when they waste so much cash on other useless projects? DO BETTER.

These programs are a lifeline for so many people. Cutting them is going to cause way more problems than it solves. Just wrong.
