Nintendo is missing out, as well as the world, on a time of re-invention when gamers are clamoring for more retro-inspired titles. While Nintendo recognizes this with a 2D-perspective Mario title being released on each of it's consoles, they are ultimately missing out on the one goldmine they sit upon - Earthbound. In thinking about this recently, I began to think about who should make a new Earthbound title since the series history always had it being made by an outside company (HAL Labortory). Then it struck me like lightning - Retro Studios. They've done amazing work with both Metroid and Donkey Kong Country, and I have no doubt they could also do the same with the Earthbound series. It just ultimately feels like the right thing, and probably the best outlet for development of the series if it is to be revived. With that said, we need to let Nintendo we mean business.
