As an Oregonian, I am a die-hard Oregon fan. I don't believe that there will be a future quarterback that can compare to Mariota. He is the first Heisman Winner in the history of UO. Time to honor him and his number.
There isnt a more deserving athlete in college sports, and that is why he is so fitting for the effort. Mariota exemplifies everything that college sports stand for, but rarely reach. A more perfect candidate for the first jersey retirement in NCAA football may never be found.
Marcus Mariota has brought a whole new breed and prototype for student athletes across the country, he deserves for his number to be retired. We know that no one else will ever fill in his shoes at Oregon, and no one else should wear his number.

I'm a Buckeye fan but Mariota is a great QB, good too see one more talented QB with class going into the NFL. we know the NFL needs more like him that aren't thugs. I think with his accomplishments at Oregon they should retire his number and hang his jersey in their stadium.

Best Ducks on and off the field. The program will never be the same. I'm applying to U of O for college and football is a huge reason thanks to that man. It would truly be a dream to see his jersey retired at Autzen.
