It has been a really long time since CW has this kind of show. It is really boring to have a show with a guy and a girl in love with each other but caught in a bad situation, etc like Vampire Diaries, Beauty and The Beast, but Emily offers something different!! Comments: Emily Owens, MD was hard to watch at first. After we get through the first couple cringe-worthy episodes, (not that they were horrible to watch, but because we know what not to do in the situations Emily gets herself into) we start to understand how those experiences are helping her grow. It was a little slow in showing us individual character stories, and that may be a reason why ratings were not great. A contributing factor in lower ratings was because it's right after Hart of Dixie. If viewers are changing channels in the middle of Hart of Dixie, they are less likely to switch back at 9pm for Emily Owens. Another big factor is the show debuting the week before Hurricane Sandy, which is something the network should have taken into account. Many highly populated cities on the east coast did not have power for up to six weeks (more in some areas), meaning there was no television to watch for up to at least a month after the hurricane. That is definitely something that should have been taken into consideration when decisions were being made about the show. Honestly, this is the first time in many years that I have continuously watched a show on the CW. The last time there was anything worth watching was 7th Heaven. Many issues and situations discussed on the show are realistic and relatable, and this is a drama that should be given a fair chance. With the fan base increasing with each successive episode, it's extremely disappointing that the network has cancelled the show because they refused to consider the other causes in the low viewership.
