Fireworks are used to celebrate events such as Bonfire Night and New Year and so have their place on these nights. However- they are becoming a nuisance throughout the year. many pets owners are plagued by fireworks going off for many months. Responsible pet owners make provision to protect their pets on these nights as they are aware of the stress they can cause their much loved animals . However it is getting impossible to go for an evening walk without being being plagued by fireworks going off at all times of the evening. It is possible to make alternate arrangements for an occasional evening but not every night for months. The 'silly season' is again upon us and already many evening walks have been ruined . Is it fair to place such stress on our pets and their owners. Surely a nation of animal lovers would support a motion restricting the sale and use of fireworks to a very limited number of days and prohibit their use other than on nominated days. Even if people are not animal lovers they must appreciate the danger to other road users of animals being spooked by fireworks going off without warning. Dogs, cats , foxes and horses are just some of the creatures that can be spooked in this way , and could easily crate a hazard if darting across a road in fear. It is also unpleasant to members of the public when out in the hours if darkness .If restrictions were placed on their sale, and use , people would feel safer .
