The Hudson Valley Psychiatric Center is a historic complex. This is only one reason why it should be restored to it's previous state or renovated to better support the community's needs. We (Those who sign this petition.) believe that the "Dover Knolls" project, though it would be of great economic help to the community as a whole, is not the correct way to deal with this facility. It is our belief as a community that the Hudson Valley Psychiatric Center should not be turned into the projected "Dover Knolls" complex, but rather restored and made use of as the hospital/medical complex that it once was. While it's main use is no longer as relevant to the area as it once was, the facility can easily be renovated and turned into a true medical complex, which would highly benefit the community. As a whole, we would like to see one (or both) of these two things happen: 1.) We would like to see this center restored to it's original condition. 2.) We would like to see this center re-purposed as a true medical facility capable of supporting the needs of our community.
