Comments: Our charter school offers amazing opportunities in music to children who would otherwise may not have music at all in their school. It is a loving, caring and academically challenging school that should be allowed to flourish.

Comments: This is a tragic loss for charter students. Schools are already doing more with less.

Comments: We are opening Equality Charter School in September 2009, and these cuts will make it difficult to provide adequate programming for our 132 students.

Comments: As a co-founder and Board member of the VOICE Charter School located in (Long Island City) Queens, I know that our school is reaching disadvantaged families and their children and is an environment for learning that is having definite "school effect," i.e. every student is learning to their highest potential. Such a school--and the other public charter schools in New York--need and deserve a fair portion of public dollars. Poverty persists when even one child is denied his or her fundamental right to quality education. Such education is both a human right in itself and a necessary means of realizing other human rights. And so, such education opportunities as offered through our public charter schools is the best financial investment the state can make.

Comments: Funding for education is crucial!! Charter schools represent a cost savings to the taxpayers of NYC. Charter schools are 100% public school education. Parents and children are the primary stakeholders in public education, every other consideration is secondary. Public education is the only way to move our state and country forward. Please do not move in the opposite direction of history, or you will be relegated to its dustbin. Thank you.

Comments: To reduce funding to public Charter Schools, who already receive less than District public schools, is both inequitable and unjust!

Comments: Our Charter School, Community Roots provides a superior education for a diverse student body. This is a PUBLIC SCHOOL that parents WANT to be a part of. Charter Schools provide a place for communities to use innovative approaches for education and by definition of their charter are held to a HIGHER standard of success and accountability than regular public school.Do not gratuitously and unfairly deprive our students and threaten their future by cutting funding in a budget that includes a 1.2 billion dollar increase in spending for education. It is imperative that this funding be restored.
