Comments: I am a member of the Explore community. Collectively (Explore and Explore Empower) we will be serving 650 students next year in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn and our students deserve the full allocation of public education funds. Please help us continue to do right by ALL students. They deserve it.

Comments: This is a shameful act when charters outperform regualar public schools consistently. If anything cut the funding from public school which are not performing.

Comments: I am a teacher at a charter school in Brooklyn, New York and I believe public funding for charter schools should be restored. In hard economic times, the students and families we serve are often the ones hit the hardest. And taking away the resources they need to succeed in school, in college, and in life is not the answer. Students in charter schools deserve the same opportunities as public school students, and I urge you to reconsider the budget cuts!

Comments: The state budget agreement unfairly cuts the charter school funding we are entitled to for next school year, even as school aid is increasing. This is unjust. Our students, families, and teachers are working hard and are significantly outperforming the local district. They don’t deserve to be rewarded with a freeze in per pupil spending while district schools receive an increase. We thought you were a supporter of charter schools. This budget betrays that support.

Comments: Given that charter schools are required by the state to achieve standards that go above and beyond those of other public schools, yet serve the same underprivileged students in some of the poorest areas in the state, it seems wildly backward to cut funding at a time of fiscal stimulus. Please reconsider.
