This is a petition to repeal Bills S-7 and C-51, officially known as the Combatting Terrorism Act and the Canadian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2015 respectively. Among other things, these acts allow the government of Canada to detain individuals without an arrest warrant, share an individual's personal information between departments without the individual's knowledge and conduct surveillance of individuals without a warrant or the proper oversight of a judge. Furthermore, a provision of Bill C-51 allows for the seizure and deletion of "terrorist propaganda", which has the potential to be used to violate the free speech of Canadian Citizens.

We the undersigned feel that these legislations are in violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and are therefore not in the best interests of Canadian citizens. The civil liberties granted by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms are what make this country great, and the threat of terrorism is not a valid reason to infringe on the rights of Canadian citizens. We feel that terrorism should be fought using conventional policing tactics, which are in compliance with Charter Rights and are subject to oversight. We, as citizens of Canada, will not tolerate any further infringement of our Charter Rights.
