Anonymous | I think it's part of a control when you try to leave Carilion, but they tell you if you don't stay within then you have to pay for YOUR own records. Not right!
Anonymous | Carliion Healtcare Systems has only set healthcare back fifty years in the Roanoke Valley. The only thing Edward Murphy cares about is the almighty dollar! I will never allow myself to address Mr. Murphy as Doctor, has he has never practiced medicine. That may be a blessing in disguise!

Brenda Peters | In July 2007 I had a colonoscopy at the Center for Surgical Excellance for a cost of $1116.00 on which Anthem allowed $700.00. At that time the Center for Surgical Excellance was independent. If a profit was made on the $700.00 allowed by my insurance how can you justify a charge of over $4000.00 for the same procedure? I am having a hard enough time paying for my care much less for the part of what I am charged that supposedly goes towards the ER facility (have you been there????) and towards those who don't have insurance. The choice to shop around is gone as this facility has now been sold to Carilion. I understand businesses need to be profitable but this is beyond excessive! Carilion is about the MONEY. Non profit status? How? How do you continue to build buildings and buy up independent facilities if you don't have profit? Surely none of you really think patient care is what this is all about. Our health insurance premiums have risen in the double digits for years thanks to the overcharges such as these. Again, this is about MONEY. C'mon people!

Miriam Roller Molver, R.N. | I would be frightened to be involved in a health care system that didn't allow feedom of choice for the consumers. I respect the need for continuity of care and ease of record retreaval. Yet I understand an individual's need to have flexiblilty in the choice of providers available to them. Also, there needs to be some sense of humanity for those who cannot pay.
Valerie Garner | Local politicians won't touch this with a ten foot pole - in other words they have "a conflict". I would be so proud of one that stuck their neck out but I'm not holding my breath.
.David A. St.Clair | A $4700.00 + victim of Carilion, accompainied by a $300.00 a month jump in insurance premium for my health insurance. There has to be a better way!!!
Anonymous | Carilion's plain to close CHRV ER has only made over crowding of RMH and LGH ER. Carilion is a money hungry machine, and pt care is last. If insurance does not cover a item, Carilion will not discount their fee, but Lewis-Gale will. I will not take my young boys to the waiting room of Carilion RMH Emergency Room, and expose them to that.

Mark Hemminger | Carilion is definitely becoming, if not already has become, a monopoly in this area of Va. I would not be surprised at all to hear that this is also there plan for other parts of the US. That is how greedy people/companies work.

James Garris | How can a non profit organization take federal money to serve those wwho can not afford medical bills and then use eiher the Debt Recovery Department or SCA Collections to sue them in court, ruin their credit, and garnish their wages? It is immoral to do this!
