Respect the ear tip!
Feral cat care-givers around the country are providing a humane way to control the feral cat population. But animal control officers are often trapping ear-tipped cats, which are being killed at shelters around the country.
We are asking for animal control officers and shelters to respect the ear tip, and not to remove ear-tipped cats from their colony locations.
A left ear tip on a cat is a designation that the animal was spayed or neutered and is part of a cared-for colony. These cats also typically receive vaccinations, and are often microchipped as well. This is called TNR - trap, neuter and return, and is the most logical as well as humane way to deal with un-socialized, or feral cats.
Many cities (Baltimore, Maryland, for example) and towns around the country have embraced TNR as the ONLY effective way to control the feral cat population.
