To whom it may concern,

We, the undersigned, support the actions of One World Conservation regarding their letter to the San Antonio Zoological Society Board of Directors on February 18, 2011, which calls for the resignation of Zoo Director, Stephen McCusker. We support them for the following reasons :

Lack of transparency and accountability
Failure to provide safe and adequate conditions for animals
A string of animal deaths over the last six months
The USDA has cited the zoo for violations, some of which put both animals and the public at risk
The zoo has not acted in the best interest of the Asian elephants, Lucky and Boo
Lack of responsiveness to citizens and the community
The zoo has attracted negative attention to itself, both nationally and internationally

Given unending controversy, premature deaths of critically endangered species, documented substandard conditions for the animals, and a total disconnect from the public and its valid concerns regarding animal welfare, One World Conservation is calling for a change in zoo direction and management, starting with the resignation and replacement of Zoo Director, Stephen McCusker. This is critical for the future of the zoo, its animals, and the people of San Antonio.

We, the undersigned, understand the seriousness of our request, and assure the board that it is not made lightly and do so with all due respect. We ask that the board of directors take our position seriously and take action by the removal of the San Antonio Zoo Director, Stephen McCusker.

Respectfully,
We, the undersigned
