We, the undersigned parents and taxpayers of the Farmington Central Schools CUSD #265, call for the immediate resignation of District Superintendent Dr. John Asplund. Dr. John Asplund has failed to provide the proper channels of communication to the parents of students at the Farmington Central Schools CUSD #265 by refusing to acknowledge a real concern among parents over an arrest incident occurring on December 17, 2012 of a student making threats against the school. Parents were told that nothing had happened at school when they called and that it was a "normal" day. We now know otherwise from various media outlets that the day was not "normal". Dr. John Asplund has lost the confidence of the Farmington Central Schools District community. How can we, as parents and taxpayers know that our children and students are safe from harm when an alert system that is in place is not used to properly inform parents of vital information. Incidents like these cause a great deal of undue stress on parents that could have been avoided. For the good of all current and future students, teachers, and parents, Dr. John Asplund should resign immediately.
