The purpose of this petition is to ascertain interest in the proposal of Residents Parking for the colonies, in particular Salisbury Road. This was tried approx. 10 years ago and due to a small number who were against it, the petition did not get any further. However since then the Colonies has evolved with new residents, an increased number of residents vehicles and inevitably the 'outside' traffic has also increased with many commuters and shoppers using Salisbury Road as a free car park. This is causing a number of issues: residents being unable to park outside or even near their own homes, erratic parking meaning spaces not big enough for a vehicle are being left, vehicles being left on double yellow lines, frayed tempers and confrontations with non-residents, an increase in minor bumps and scrapes to vehicles, visitors to the residents being reluctant to visit due to there being no where to park and road blockages when residents want to simply unload their vehicle.
