Comments: As a resident of Tower Hamlets I'm appalled that police are arresting women involved in prostitution, using the Olympics as an excuse to pick on the very women who most need our support. Let's see the police arrest those who are really responsible for the problem of prostitution: violent men.

Comments: Resident at Landon Walk, Poplar, Tower Hamlets. As a resident of Tower Hamlets, I am extremely unimpressed with the hijacking of the Olympics to "clean up the area" in this sense. These are vulnerable women who are being placed in even more dangerous situations than normal and all due to the actions of the police. This is really unacceptable.

Comments: These draconian measures need to stop. They only serve to exacerbate the vulnerability of women in prostitution. About 90% of women in prostitution say they want to exit - resources need to be channelled into support services to help them to do so rather than these damaging criminalisation strategies. And why are marginalised, vulnerable people being targetted whilst those in posititions of power who buy sex, exploit women and perpetrate violence against women remain unchallenged? We call for changes in policy and practice in Tower Hamlets to address this.

Comments: The police need to focus on the men who are the ones buying prostituted women. Police need to target and shame the males who use their cars to approach prostituted women. Police also need to target the many male pimps and other males who coerce women and girls into prostitution. No prostituted woman is a criminal because prostituted women do not drive male demand - men are the real criminals. My street address is Mantus Road, E1
