I am requesting to have my hearing reopen. On November 13, 2012 at 10 AM I have a phone hearing and I mentioned that I forgot about the original hearing on August 14, 2012. I wasn't prepared for this hearing and that is why I didn't give the judge all the following information. My children were removed from my home and I started off with 1 visit each week on Wednesdays in June. My original visits were scheduled Monday's and Thursdays 9-11AM. Then I got a new visit monitor and the visits got changed to Saturdays from 9AM - 1P. I got switched once again and the visits were scheduled for Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9-11AM. This switch happened on the Saturday before the original hearing (August 11, 2012). I called out of work sick on Monday August 13, 2012 and I have no access to my schedule from home. On Tuesday August 14, 2012 I arrived at work at noon and checked my calendar and noticed I had missed the hearing. I quickly called the Office of Appeals and a lady answered and stated I will get a letter in the mail to request for my hearing to be re-opened. I waited for that letter and sent it off. When I got the new hearing I noticed that it conflicted with a court hearing from Child Protective Services and requested to have another hearing date. I should have been better prepared for the November 13, 2012 hearing and I apologize for that however I do believe that I should be able to have my hearing reopened because I feel that I shouldn't have to pay for the Department of Economic Security's mistakes.
